SGD Begins Work On Colt-Inspired Renovation At Alnmouth Golf Club

Swan Golf Designs has begun working on a Colt-inspired renovation project at Alnmouth Golf Club - the 4th oldest golf club in England.

Following an appraisal of the entire course, including the historic plans of Colt and Alison, work has started on the par-3 8th hole, the shortest on the course. Frontal bunkers have been rebuilt, tightening the entrance to the green and reboucbling the prontection for short pins. Uncharacteristic bunkers have been removed from below the right-hand edge of the green and replaced by a steep run-off, the back-right bunker having also been removed to allow a new gathering swale to be installed. 

The construction is being undertaken by the greenstaff, led by long-standing Head Greenkeeper Jim Storey.
